ELEANOR VOLUNTEER
FIRE DEPARTMENT

April 12, 1961, a Charter and Certificate of Incorporation was established and issued to the Eleanor Volunteer Fire Department. The residents of the Eleanor area who became the incorporators of this department were:

R.W. Smith, Eugene M. Hudson, John Gatens, Alonzo Miller, Tony Gritt, Albert Wolfe, Oren W. Smith, Charles Farley Jr., J.M. Porter, L.P. Egnor, Clyde E. Raynes, Andy N. Francisco, Robert D. Crockett and Earl Watts.

In August of 1962, the Eleanor Volunteer Fire Department was granted the authority to construct a Fire Station.

Since this time, the Eleanor Fire Department has stood and protected this community and assisted other fire departments in protection as well. Through the years, many fire fighters have come and gone, but much of the tradition and desire that founded this department still remains today.

As generations have passed, so has the duties of protecting our area. Currently, we have second and third generation fire fighters now dedicated to saving life and property just as their fathers did and grandfathers.

Such a commitment and respect to those who have served before us, has helped to make the Eleanor Volunteer Fire Department one solid team and brotherhood.
